Description

The input for the sound sensor module is generated by the microphone, which consists of a small diaphragm that is one plate of a capacitor. The capacitor’s second plate is the back plate, which runs parallel to the diaphragm. The fundamental design of the microphone is depicted in the diagram below. When a person speaks into a microphone, the diaphragm is struck by the sound waves produced by the voice. The diaphragm vibrates as a result of the hits, causing the distance between the capacitor’s two plates to shorten or widen (see illustration on the left). Sound waves affect the voltage across the plates, which has a direct influence on the KY-037 sound sensor module’s circuit since capacitance is directly proportionate to the distance between the plates.
