This sensor is for individuals who desire a clean room, are sensitive to dust, and want to know how much dust is in the room. Sharp’s GP2Y1010AU0F optical air quality sensor detects dust particles. This gadget has an infrared emitting diode and a phototransistor that is diagonally placed to detect the reflected light of dust in the air. It is very excellent at detecting tiny particles such as cigarette smoke and is often used in air purifier systems.
The sensor consumes relatively little current (20mA max, 11mA normal) and can be powered by up to 7VDC. The sensor’s output is an analog voltage proportional to the detected dust density, with a range of 0 to 1. To interact with the sensor, connect to its 6-pin, 1.5mm pitch connection; we are looking for a matching connector.
