Description

Inductive proximity sensors are an excellent technique to detect whether a metal item is within a certain distance. Because this is a non-contact sensor, it is perfect for use in environments with dust, dirt, or liquids. This sensor activates when the sensor tip is 4mm distant and has an LED that lights when the sensor is tripped. This sensor is simple to install since it has a lengthy threaded body that allows for a lot of flexibility.

Internally, this sensor is wired like an NPN transistor; when a metal item is 4mm away, the base pin of the transistor is activated. The sensor functions between 6 and 36 volts of direct current and will output the same voltage on the output line. Because of the greater voltage, the output’s logic level must be adjusted to a lower voltage in order to work with a Raspberry Pi or Arduino. To connect this sensor, do the following: Brown = DC input (6-36VDC), Blue = Ground, and Black = Output Signal.
