Description

The ADXL345 3-DOF IMU Accelerometer Module is a specialized sensor module that relies on the advanced ADXL345 accelerometer IC. This compact and slim module boasts exceptional energy efficiency, making it ideal for various applications. Designed with precision in mind, this accelerometer offers a 3-axis measurement capability with an impressive high-resolution output of 13 bits, capable of accurately capturing movements of up to 16 g.

Digital data output from this module is formatted as a 16-bit two complement, and it can be conveniently accessed through either the SPI or I2C digital interfaces, catering to various communication needs.

One of the most notable features of this module is its ability to measure static and dynamic acceleration. In scenarios where tilt-sensing is essential, the module excels at gauging the static acceleration of gravity. Furthermore, it adeptly captures dynamic acceleration resulting from motion or sudden impacts, contributing to its versatility.

With an impressive sensitivity level, delivering a resolution of 3.9 mg/LSB, the module enables highly accurate measurements of even slight inclination changes, measuring shifts less than 1.0 degrees. To enhance its adaptability, the module includes activity and inactivity sensing capabilities. By comparing acceleration values against user-defined thresholds, it can detect the presence or absence of motion.

The ADXL345 3-DOF IMU Accelerometer module goes beyond basic sensing functionalities by incorporating advanced features like tap sensing and free-fall detection. It can identify single and double taps in any direction, offering expanded interaction possibilities. Moreover, the free fall sensing feature can reliably detect instances when the device is in a state of free fall.

Users have the flexibility to assign these distinct functions to two separate interrupt output pins, providing customizable control over triggering actions based on specific sensor outputs.

The sensor encompasses three independent axes of measurement: X, Y, and Z. To suit different application requirements, the sensitivity level can be adjusted to four different settings: ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, or ±16g. Opting for a lower range enhances resolution, making it ideal for precisely capturing slow movements. Conversely, the higher sensitivity range proves advantageous for tracking high-speed motions accurately. This adaptability to different scenarios makes the ADXL345 3-DOF IMU Accelerometer module an indispensable tool for various projects and applications.
