This is a little electromagnetic lock that operates on 12V electricity. It is quite simple to operate; supply power, and the slug will be drawn inside (unlock), and when you release the energy, the slug will return to its original place (lock). The lock comes with a slanted slug that you can easily open with two Phillips-head screws and spin 90, 180, or 270 degrees to match the door you wish to use it with.
We require an external 12VDC power supply to drive the lock when we utilize MCU to operate it. Here we have a DC-DC booster module that can boost 5V to 12V and includes a pin connected to an MCU’s GPIO to output a HIGH level and a LOW signal to turn it off. Take a look at the video below:
