Note: This Xbee shield is designed to be used with other wireless modules, such as WiFi or Bluetooth, to enable wireless functions. It doesn’t have wireless capability on its own.

This low-power Xbee shield for Arduino makes it easy and cost-effective to add wireless capability to your Arduino projects using an Xbee module (not included). The shield is simple to use and provides reliable transmission of important data between devices.

Thanks to its innovative design, the XBee-PRO module has a range that is 2-3 times greater than standard ZigBee modules. XBee-PRO modules operate in the ISM 2.4 GHz frequency band. The MaxStream’s XBee (1 mW) Zigbee module is pin-compatible with this shield.

The Xbee module is widely used in the United States, Canada, Australia, Israel and Europe. You don’t need to configure anything to establish RF communication, as the module’s default configuration supports a wide range of data system applications. However, you can use a simple AT command for advanced configuration. There is also an XBee code development package available for OEM developers, which was self-developed in collaboration with the MaxStream ZigBee/802.15.4 RF module code.
