Released in 2019 the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is the most powerful Raspberry Pi board to date. It is described as able to provide desktop experience comparable to entry-level x86 PC systems. The board retains the same footprint as Pi 3 but the layout has been redesigned and most connectors have been changed. This model requires different cases, power supplies and HDMI cables than the older Pi 1/2/3 models. It also runs hotter, so a passive or active cooling system is highly recommended.
