An adjustable potentiometer can be used to create many interesting user interfaces. As you turn the potentiometer, the resistance changes. To set it up, connect VCC to one of the outer pins and GND to the other pin. The centre pin will then produce a voltage that varies from 0 to VCC as the potentiometer rotates. By connecting the centre pin to an ADC (Analogue-to-Digital Converter) on a microcontroller, you can obtain adjustable user input!
